Tyre and alignment work we do
- Tyres supplied and fitted in all common passenger and light truck sizes
- Wheel balancing on every tyre we fit
- Laser wheel alignment set to the manufacturer's specification
- Camber, caster and toe measured and adjusted where adjustment exists
- Puncture repairs where the damage is safely repairable
- Tyre rotation to even out wear across the set
- Tyre pressure monitoring sensors serviced and reset
- Wear pattern inspection to find the suspension fault behind uneven wear
- Wheel nuts torqued to specification, never rattled up
Uneven wear is a symptom, not a tyre problem
Tyres wearing on one edge, feathering across the tread, or scrubbing out in a few thousand kilometres are telling you something about the alignment or the suspension. Fitting new tyres without fixing the cause just means buying the same tyres again sooner.
We inspect the wear pattern and check the suspension components before we align. A worn bush, tie rod end or ball joint has to be replaced first, because you cannot hold an alignment on worn parts.
When to get an alignment
After fitting new tyres, after any suspension or steering work, after a solid hit on a pothole or kerb, or any time the car pulls to one side or the steering wheel sits off centre going straight. As a rule of thumb, once a year or every 10,000 kilometres is sensible even if nothing feels wrong.
Reading your own tyres
The tread wear indicators are the raised bars sitting in the grooves — when the tread is level with them, the tyre is at the legal limit of 1.5mm and should already have been replaced. Also check the date code on the sidewall: tyres harden with age, and a tyre over about ten years old should be replaced regardless of how much tread is left.
Check your pressures monthly when the tyres are cold. Underinflation wears the edges, overinflation wears the centre, and both cost you fuel.
What it costs
Tyre prices depend on the size and brand — tell us the size off the sidewall and we will quote you. Alignment is a fixed price for most vehicles, and we will tell you upfront if yours needs parts before it can be aligned properly.
