E-Safety Checks

We are an authorised inspection station. Your e-Safety Check is lodged electronically with Transport for NSW, so you can renew your registration online as soon as it passes.

What gets inspected

  • Tyres — tread depth, damage, and that they are the correct size and rating
  • Brakes — operation, pad and disc condition, and the park brake
  • Steering and suspension for wear and free play
  • Lights, indicators, brake lights and reflectors
  • Windscreen for cracks and chips in the driver's line of sight
  • Wipers and washers
  • Seat belts, seats and their mountings
  • Exhaust for leaks and excessive smoke
  • Body and chassis for rust in structural areas
  • Doors, mirrors, horn and the fuel system

Who needs one, and when

In NSW, a light vehicle more than five years old needs an e-Safety Check before its registration can be renewed. Newer vehicles do not. Your renewal notice will tell you which applies to yours.

The inspection is valid for six months, so you can get it done up to six months before your registration is due — no need to leave it to the last week.

What happens if it does not pass

You get a report listing exactly what failed and why. You have 14 days to have the repairs done and bring the car back for a re-inspection, which we do at no extra charge within that window.

You are not obliged to have the repairs done here. If you would rather take it elsewhere or do the work yourself, that is fine — bring it back and we will re-inspect it.

A pass is not a mechanical health check

An e-Safety Check tests whether the car meets minimum roadworthy standards on the day. It is not a service, and it does not tell you the timing belt is due or that the transmission fluid has never been changed. A car can pass and still need work.

If you want to know the actual condition of the vehicle, book a general service alongside the inspection and we will go through it properly.

Before you come in

Bring your registration papers or renewal notice, and make sure the car is reasonably accessible — an empty boot helps, since the spare and jack get checked. Walk around it first and replace any blown bulbs, which are the single most common reason a car fails.
