Diagnostics

Warning light on? We use dealer-level scan tools to read your car's modules, trace the actual fault and tell you what it will take to fix it.

What we can read and test

  • Engine and transmission fault codes, including manufacturer-specific codes
  • ABS, airbag, traction control and stability system faults
  • Live sensor data recorded while the engine runs and while driving
  • Emissions and oxygen sensor performance
  • Battery, charging and parasitic drain testing
  • Electronic handbrake, service and warning light resets
  • Key and module coding after a repair or replacement
  • Intermittent faults that only appear when the car is warm or moving

A code is a starting point, not an answer

A generic code reader will tell you a sensor is out of range. It will not tell you whether the sensor has failed, whether the wiring to it is damaged, or whether something else upstream is causing the reading. Replacing parts based on the code alone is how people end up paying twice.

We read the code, then test the circuit and the component to confirm which one is actually at fault before we quote you a repair.

Warning lights we see most often

Check engine, ABS, airbag, traction control, glow plug and battery lights, plus limp mode and cars that will not start. Some are urgent and some can wait a week — we will tell you which one you are dealing with.

What it costs

Diagnostic time is charged at our hourly rate, and most faults are identified inside the first hour. If you go ahead with the repair here, we put the diagnostic time towards the job. You will get a quote before any repair work starts.

Bring it in while the fault is happening

Intermittent faults are much easier to find while they are occurring. If the car plays up when cold, first thing in the morning is the best time to drop it off. If a warning light comes on and goes off again, do not clear it — the stored history helps us.
